The backplate covers the whole length of the graphics cards PCB, serving as an aesthetic add-on and also providing passive cooling for the backside of voltage regulation module (VRM). This backplate is guaranteed to be compatible only with Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 WindForce 3X series graphics cards.
